The Ebell of Los Angeles Campus Rehabilitation and Preservation

Frederick Fisher and Partners has been selected to lead a multiyear, multi-phased Campus Rehabilitation and preservation of the historic Ebell of Los Angeles campus. This iconic and cultural institution, founded as a women’s club in 1894, continues to serve as a gathering place for civic dialogue, the arts, and educational programming.

The plan addresses critical life-safety, seismic, and accessibility improvements across the complex, while modernizing building systems and enhancing day-to-day functionality.

The project includes a holistic upgrade of its 100,000 SF campus; most notably the historic 1,238-seat Wilshire Ebell Theatre.

The scope includes structural upgrades, new elevators, MEP system replacement, selective envelope restoration, and a sensitive renovation of the historic theatre, including rigging and AV/IT systems upgrades.

The project is expected to proceed over a 5–10 year timeline, culminating in a revitalized, code-compliant campus that supports The Ebell’s mission well into the 21st century.

Working in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation, FF&P will collaborate with Ebell stakeholders and administration to develop a phased implementation strategy that accommodates continued programming throughout construction.
