Colby Museum, Lunder Wing Expansion and Bixler Art Studio

Based on the Georgian vernacular of the campus, the Lunder Wing serves to unify a divergent group of buildings which make up the Museum complex and Fine Arts Department.

FF&P designed the new museum wing to integrate within the context of the existing colonial style campus architecture.
The building’s simple form refers to the historic antecedents of the existing campus architecture. Courtyards and sculpture gardens are integral to the design. The plaza signifies the Museum entry, with a commissioned installation by Richard Serra, and provides a venue for outdoor receptions.
