Rialto Residence

Designed for an artist and an analyst with an art and rare book collection, the home is simple with modest detailing, to allow for comfortable, unobstructed living.

The goal of the design was to create a relaxed environment for the couple to enjoy their collection in their everyday lives, rather than create an austere “gallery-like” space. The flexible plan allows for the interchangeable use of rooms, and will include a studio, library, guest room, exercise room and a den that can be used as a professional office. The center of the house is a live-in kitchen with a courtyard on two sides.

The exterior consists of cedar plank siding, cement plaster, and steel and wood windows. Interior materials include concrete floors on the first level, oak plank flooring on the second level, teak casework and stone.
